Sunset in Grand Haven taken from Grand Haven State Park – this is an older shot from 2012 and taken at a time of year when it was warm out – which also had an influence on where the sun was coming down on the horizon, putting it North of the channel instead of more or less inline with it as in the previous picture.
It’s not perfect… I think the sun is a bit blown out and I’m not sure about the water. I ran the ISO pretty high to keep the tiny waves sufficiently sharp, but I think I might have been better off to go to the opposite extreme – reduce the sensitivity add a neutral density filter to just let the waves blur themselves out over a few seconds. Just reducing the sensitivity was not enough, as I have a similar picture @ ISO 100, but it’s still only 1/8 sec shutter, so the waves still show up, but they’re blurry.
