Auschwitz

This is probably the one picture of the Auschwitz concentration camp that I think best sums up seeing it.  One row of the buildings has been preserved, but the scale becomes more apparent when you realize that that’s an entire field  full of the fireplaces that were in the buildings – one building for every pair of chimneys.
