This was from Artprize 2011. I generally like the large metal sculpture entries – the seem to fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum ranging from a plethora of craft-prize entries to the upper end of insanely detailed 30′ wide pencil drawings that have been in the works for four years. As in, there’s enough talent there for me to appreciate with a simple enough appeal that I don’t have to have an art history degree or magnifying glass to notice. This one is a little simpler than most entries in that subset, but it seemed to go well with the background.
The picture shown is the composite of three exposures so all the colors are a bit hopped up at the expense of some detail.
Pictures taken with Canon 60D, EF-S 10-22mm lens @ 10mm, 1/100, 1/50 & 1/25 second shutter speed, /8.0, ISO 100
