Switcher CAD

I noticed my laptop was hotter than normal and it occurred to me that that just might be the processor. So, I opened up the task manager and low and behold:

Switcher CAD pegging both cores at 100%

Damn it’s nice to have a computer that can run this stuff. And nice to know that the developers wrote the code to take advantage of a dual core architecture. It’ll be even nicer when I can run it on my desktop which has an extra 33% clock speed and two more cores compared to the laptop.

All this would have been grand back in undergrad when I was running three hour VHDL simulations. Incidentally, that’s when I discovered that somehow Windows XP was making Modelsim run much faster than Win98. I could run the same simulation on my P3 450MHz, 128mb of RAM laptop under XP in half the time it would take on the Athlon 1GHz, 512mb of RAM under Win98. Never truly understood why that was, I figured it was due to the NTFS vs. FAT32 file system, but that was just a guess.

Sorry, text obfuscation added because I’m not sure it’s wise to show my corporate UserID and process list.
