One of the better pictures I got from attending a bull fight in Madrid. It was kind of a pain to get to see an actual bull fight, because they really only happen in Madrid which wasn’t that close to the cities we were visiting at the time. It was something that I wanted to do because I figured I wouldn’t get another chance, but the entire spectacle is pretty morbid really.
The bulls are pretty beat up by the time they are “fighting,” to the point that some barely charge. Then you get to watch the matador put on a show of how amazing they are for confusing a half-dead animal that wasn’t that smart to begin with. Then, in the case of one of the matadors I saw (must have been a trainee), stab the bull three times before finally getting the proper killing pass on the fourth.
On the up-side, I did get to see one matador get gored in the leg, so that was fun.
