Gizmodo – Blue Angels Fat Albert
Apparently I queued up a few more airshow pictures. I suspect I’ve posted a picture of this guy before, but this is Fat Albert – the Blue Angels transport C-130 Hercules. When I was a kid I saw a demo of the plane taking off and possibly the coolest feature was the battery of takeoff assist rockets that fire downward to help boost it into the air.
Apparently the rockets were in short supply though, and the performance featuring them was discontinued in 2009.
Also, this is probably as much as I can freeze the motion of the props on a plane because it’s the max shutter speed for the 60D.
