Balanced Rock

Happy St. Patrick’s day… here’s a picture that has absolutely nothing to do with that.

I posted a very similar picture previously, but this truly is a different shot.  Taken at the very tail end of sunset when only the distant mountains were catching the pink light.  Moments before you could see all the nearby rock formations at the left of the frame lit a bright orange.

It’s quite possible this would look good cropped down a bit getting rid of most or all of the lighter rock in the foreground since it’s not really interesting.

    The mountains look fake in the background…BUT THEY’RE NOT!

    I wasn’t careful enough – the mountains are very grainy. I forgot that this was starting from a RAW file and thus pretty much requires some noise reduction & sharpening to look the way it “should.”
