Southernmost Point

[singlepic id=1612 h=480 float=left] The southernmost point in the continental USA.  Posted because it’s just a kind of cool thing to have seen once upon a time, not for it’s photographic qualities. Picture taken with Olympus C-2040z, lens @ 21mm (140mm equiv), f/2.6, 1/320 sec, ISO 100

Key West Art

[singlepic id=1611 w=480] You can blame Michael for making me think of the Key West folder and the recent bout of dumb sculpture pictures.  Here’s another which I don’t have a better name for than generic Key West art – looks like a painted metal snake plant to me. Picture… Continue reading

T-Rex Sculpture

[singlepic id=1610 h=480] Another from the Key West sculpture garden – taken years before Artprize made big, coarse, welded metal structures cool.  Of course, it was also taken with the state of the art Olympus C-2040z making use of both of its megapixels to record Mr. T-Rex in such fine… Continue reading

Cicada Sculpture

[singlepic id=1609 h=480] From Key West, one of the paid beaches, I think, a nice cicada sculpture.  This one was in the sculpture park very near the T-rex from a previous, very old, post. Picture taken with Olympus C-2040z, lens @ 7.3mm (40mm equiv), f/4.5, 1/800 sec, ISO 100

Mt. Rainier

[singlepic id=1566 w=480 float=left] A closer shot of the top of Mt. Rainier – taken from within Mt. Rainier National Park.  This was the closest we got to the mountain.  There were some hikes that went into the foothills but they were mostly longer than we had time for. Picture… Continue reading

Rock Licking Mountain Goat

[singlepic id=1564 w=480 float=left] One more of the mountain goat that we came upon at the top of Mt. Ellinor.  They lick the rocks scavenging salt.  There are plentiful warnings that they will also lick / nibble / attack people to get at their sweaty and thus salty clothes. Picture taken… Continue reading

Moonrise

[singlepic id=1563 w=480 float=left] This was stumbled upon by pure luck – I knew it was a full moon, but had forgotten.  We just happened to be driving down the right road at the right moment to see it coming over the tress. Picture taken with Sony a6000, SEL 18-200mm… Continue reading
