Eiffel Tower
Second shot of the Eiffel Tower at night. I like the other one a little better, but this one’s not bad. Picture taken with Olympus C2040z, lens @ 7.3mm (41mm equiv), f1.8, 1/10 sec, ISO 100

Oddly enough, this is a better picture than my daytime shot of the Arc de Triomphe. That one was taken at 1/3 second shutter for some reason and, in the time before stabilized lenses*, that’s too slow to get a picture that is anywhere close to sharp. Even this picture… Continue reading
This is the Dome of the Reichstag Building in Berlin. There’s more history to it than I care to recite here, so I’ll leave that to Wikipedia. I just think the dome is a cool looking structure. Picture taken with Olympus C2040z, lens @ 7.3mm (41mm equiv), f/4.5, 1/500 sec,… Continue reading
Regrettably, this is the best picture I have from when we visited the Berlin Wall. I have a few others, but they’re all focused on some specific section of the wall. The falling of the wall is probably one of the earliest news events I remember (the Challenger explosion being… Continue reading
How’s about a daytime picture of the Eiffel Tower. Meh – honestly the night ones are all better if for no reason than they’re different – you can google/bing/yahoo image search and come up with dozens of daytime pictures of the Eiffel Tower that are all better than this, or… Continue reading
Photo of Paris, France from the Eiffel Tourist Trap Tower. I’m sure it’s not completely fair to label this as a picture of Paris when in reality it’s just a shot of a tiny bit of the city – Champ de Mars to be specific. Somewhere out there one or… Continue reading
Older picture from Busch Gardens in Florida from back in the day of the C-2040z. I probably have a dozen pictures of these guys that turned out quite good given the megapixel limitations of the camera being used. Granted, they’re of birds that naturally look very pretty and are taken… Continue reading
An older picture from MSU’s campus. I really liked the row of these red trees down Farm Lane so I went wandering one day to take some pictures. I had a vision of how one of these shots would turn out, but I couldn’t quite get that to translate into… Continue reading
Here’s one from 2003 at the Venetian Festival in Charlevoix, MI. It was shot just after sunset looking out toward Lake Michigan as the boats were lining up to come into the harbor for the boat parade. Picture taken with Olympus C-2040z, lens @ 21mm (120mm equivalent), f/2.6, 0.4 sec… Continue reading
This picture of the remnants of a sunset over the Western end of Bois Blanc remains one of my favorite pictures. From a strict picture file standpoint, it’s probably barely shrugworthy, but I thought it was really cool how there was just enough area of cloud-free sky to allow the… Continue reading
