Mt. Washburn
The view from atop Mt. Washburn – it was a rather pretty day to be up there. Picture taken with Canon 60D, EF-S 18-135mm lens @ 18mm, 1/640 shutter, f/11, ISO 100

One of the black bears we saw in Yellowstone. Looking back on these pictures, I wish I had a better camera (actually, better lens would have been preferable) and had shot them all as RAW files. There was probably a quarter million dollars in lenses* standing the bank watching this… Continue reading
I feel like the Badlands get ignored because they don’t have the biggest, tallest, wildest, whatever-est claim, but it really was a beautiful park, and based on pictures I’ve seen from other people, I would readily go back there for another visit. Of course, we were there in the early… Continue reading
I had a concept in mind for this picture, but I think I didn’t execute it quite right. I probably should have poked around a bit more to find a better flower patch without the little tree to the right. Also, the shot ended up busier than I expected. Picture… Continue reading
This was an unmarked side-waterfall along the White River Trail up toward Mt. Rainier. I like the end product better than I thought I would – should have taken the time to pull out the tripod, because the 0.8 second shutter speed is pretty obvious. Picture taken with Sony a6000,… Continue reading
Lake of the Angels campsite – this was probably the coolest campsite I’ve stayed at. Picture taken with Sony a6000, SEL 18-200mm lens @ 200mm, 1/80 sec, f/16, ISO 100
This was one of the shots that comprised the previous moon HDR pic. The images in that one weren’t really that well aligned, so everything was quite soft. This one didn’t have quite the detail on the edges, but overall it’s a much better picture. Picture taken with Sony a6000,… Continue reading
Last one before I post the entire batch for real, and it’s a picture of dirt. Sand, to be more accurate, which I happened to like the looks of as the tide started to come in. Picture taken with Sony a6000, SEL18200 lens @ 53mm, 1/60 sec, f/11, ISO 100
The young kid along the shore said this was a jellyfish egg pouch, but I think it’s actually a moon jellyfish. There weren’t a huge number of these washing up, but a few did come in with the tide. This was one of the more ‘whole’ looking ones. The kids… Continue reading
These pink anemones were probably the least common. I’m sure there are some actual species differences here, but I have no idea what they might be. Picture taken with Sony a6000, SEL18200 lens @ 200mm, 1/320 sec, f/6.3, ISO 800
